Fuelbreaks Prove Critical: the Winnemucca Mountain Fire

When the Winnemucca Mountain Fire ignited in June 2025, it moved fast toward nearby homes. But thanks to a fuel break built just weeks earlier, firefighters were ready. This video shows how early work to clear grasses and create defensible space helped slow the fire, protect the community, and support a safer, more effective response.
